Nostalgia Rose

Flowers June 2017

– Alice in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll.

I couldn’t help but think of Alice in Wonderland when I discovered this rose. A uniquely red splashed flower named Nostalgia that exudes a beautifully powerful scent. Locally grown outside of Berlin.

Hydrangea Hues

Flowers June 2016

A dead hydrangea is as intricate and lovely as one in bloom. Bleak sky is as seductive as sunshine, miniature orange trees without blossom or fruit are not defective; they are that.”

Toni Morrison, Tar Baby

Variance is the real beauty of Hydrangeas. With their mass of flowers, each individually offering up a hue of it’s own, these large blooms are almost a study in colour tone. Here a balanced bundle of vibrant purple to muted blue hues. Offset by the strong green diagonal of the stalk, a mirror reflecting the graphic simplicity of arrangement, both of graphic simplicity and toppling mass of magnificent texture and hue, maybe the very key to their allure for me.
